Lovely location and accommodation. Very snug! Reason not 5 stars…blue night light in twin room very annoying…complimentary toiletries not very generous and couches too small for 4 people! However would recommend

What a wonderful place this is. Located in a beautiful, historic, semi-rural part of Essex just outside Colchester, quiet but just 20mins from the heart of city and with other small towns and villages nearby. The property has been very sensitively renovated, to create functional, comfortable holiday accommodation that retains its historical characteristics. Inside, there is more space that one might imagine with two receptions, a large, well-equipped kitchen and downstairs WC, plus two large bedrooms, both with large ensuite bath/shower rooms. The beds are really comfortable. All that was missing for us was a full-length mirror and hooks on the back of the doors (hoping the owner will add these!). We cook every day and found the kitchen had everything we needed (although no salt/pepper that we could find - please add this!). The oven and hob were clean and really easy to use. Outside, the space is extensive and private and the inclusion of a hot tub is very welcome (staff check it daily on weekdays but are friendly and unobtrusive). Ideal for relaxing and also as a base for exploring the local area. Just half an hour away from the lovely beach at Mersea Island. There are another five lodges on the site but they are some distance away from Crows Hall, although as guests of the estate we were free to roam the entire site, which includes a fishing lake, which we really appreciated. We have stayed in many self-catering places and this is one of the best.

The cottage far exceded our expectations ,the interior was second to none. We would easily recomend this to our friends.

We had an amazing weekend at this lovely house! The kids loved the toys and books, everyone enjoyed the hot tub and trampolineand the kitchen had everything we needed. Highly recommend for families!

We saw the potential here - loads of spaceand the outdoor area is great for older kids. But honestly, it needs a proper deep clean and the mice problem really should be sorted. The location's pretty handy, though, right on the main road, so younger kids would need watching. For the price, it's a bit underwhelming.

We had a fantastic stay at this charming old Manor House. The setting is lovely, perfect for relaxing with kids. We enjoyed exploring nearby beaches and sharing a tasty meal at the cosy pub just two minutes away. Plenty of fun in the garden and great family moments made!

The house really is stunning and just the right size for our group of 10, including 6 adults and 4 kids. The kitchen had everything we neededand the kids couldn't get enough of the garden, trampolineand hot tub!

The house was lovely, the garden stunningand the hot tub made our weekend truly special!
